Sunrise on Rt. 17

The drive along Rt. 17 is always a touching drive. It’s views are filled with tiny towns and out of business gas stations or roadside shops, everything seems quiet and forgotten. But not so much in a lonely sense, more of a strange serene quiet where you get the feeling that nature is simply waiting for it’s turn take back the landscape.

These photos were taken on labor day, just after sunrise, as we made our journey across NY state to attend the State Fair.

and for a little more context, here’s a slightly wider view.

The Past Returns

Yellow Yellow

Last weekend a friend invited to her block party. I ended up giving out popcorn and cotton candy to people. This photo had some post-processing applied to it. It’s my first time really using Adobe Lightroom 3 (on a trial period) which I’m liking a whole lot.
